Lincoln Park Schools Use Hanwha Cameras For Heightened Safety and Security
“With the Hanwha cameras, real-time monitoring can be performed by secretarial staff to determine if unknown individuals are roaming around the building.”
– Ken Jacobs, Director of Technology, Lincoln Park Public Schools

♦ Challenge
Until recently, only the high school in the Lincoln Park Public School District in Detroit in Lincoln Park, Michigan had a video system installed. While it was IP-based, the system was limited in the number of cameras that were deployed and its ability to deliver quality images.

♦ Solution
The district decided to install video surveillance at all nine of its schools and deployed video intercoms to complement the surveillance solutions at each school.
For cameras, Delta Network Services of Bloomfield Township, Michigan installed two Hanwha models: SND-6083 Network Dome Cameras and SNV-6084 Network Vandal Resistant Dome Cameras. For district-wide video management, they selected and installed exacqVision Enterprise video management system (VMS) software. exacqVision was selected based on a number of factors, including features, performance, ease of management and past success with the solution. The VMS software was installed in a virtual environment on a Delta-provided array of Dell hardware servers, which were also used for image storage.

♦ Result
The system has delivered on the Lincoln Park School District’s original goal of student safety and the improved security at the nine schools has delivered benefits beyond the school walls.
In addition to an increased sense of safety, cafeteria cameras at the high school have also delivered for the district. These were the only cameras that weren’t installed for safety purposes and have been an excellent deterrent to theft.
“With the Hanwha cameras, real-time monitoring can be performed by secretarial staff to determine if unknown individuals are roaming around the building,” says Ken Jacobs, Director of Technology for Lincoln Park Public Schools. “Our director of maintenance loves the fact that he can monitor the cameras from home with the Exacq mobile app to determine if a motion alarm is valid without having to leave his house in the middle of the night. And our administrative staff loves the fact that they can review incidents very quickly. All in all, the Hanwha cameras have made Lincoln Park Public Schools safer and more efficient.”
